Flexible packaging belt extruder

The flexible packaging belt extruder is a high-efficiency device designed for producing polyester flexible strapping tapes. It utilizes a variable frequency motor drive, precise temperature control, multi-stage stretching, and embossing technology to ensure accurate dimensions, smooth surfaces, and excellent anti-slip performance, maintaining stable performance under various climatic conditions.

Core Product Features

  • High Strength & Lightweight: Tensile strength 0.5–8.5 tons, only 15–20% weight of steel straps for easier transport and handling.
  • Safe & Damage-Free: Non-sharp edges prevent product or personnel injury; no rebound risk; safe for forklift tires and storage equipment.
  • Weather & Corrosion Resistant: Rust-free, works in -40℃ to 130℃, suitable for all climates without contaminating goods.
  • Excellent Tension Retention: Good memory and cushioning absorb vibrations, keeping straps tight during long-distance transport.
  • Embossed Anti-Slip Design: Precision textures increase friction and prevent load shifting.
  • Cost-Effective & Eco-Friendly:
    • Low tooling and maintenance costs, longer service life, overall cheaper than steel straps.
    • Recyclable and environmentally friendly material.

Effective solution for cargo securing, not only safe and convenient to use, but also versatile due to its flexible nature, making it suitable for various fields and environments.

Polyester flexible strapping band is the optimal system for cargo securing, offering not only safety and convenience but also versatility due to its flexible properties, making it applicable across different industries and environments.

With high tensile strength, it replaces traditional steel strapping methods, ensuring safe usage without scratching the packaged goods. It possesses excellent tension retention and memory, maintaining tightness over prolonged periods without loosening, and can withstand pulling forces ranging from 0.5 to 8.5 tons. Polyester fiber flexible strapping bands have been certified by the Association of American Railroads (A.A.R) and the European Rail Industry (R.I.V).

Production Method:

  • The production equipment for flexible strapping belt includes plastic extruder (main and auxiliary machines), cooling water tank, dryer, traction embossing machine, and winder.
  • The flexible strapping line’s main and auxiliary machines are driven by variable-speed motors, reducers, and shaft couplings. The forming unit comprises screw barrels, die heads, and mouth molds. Raw material is fed from the hopper into the screw barrel, where it is heated and extruded. Temperature zones are controlled as follows:
    • Barrel Zone 1: 120°C
    • Barrel Zone 2: 170°C
    • Barrel Zone 3: 220°C
    • Die Head: 250-280°C
  • The main and auxiliary machines of the flexible strapping band production line are driven by variable-speed motors, reducers, and shaft sleeves. The forming section consists of screw barrels, die heads, and mouth molds. Raw materials are heated and extruded into initial billets from the hopper into the screw barrel. Temperature control: 1st section of the machine body – 120°C, 2nd section – 170°C, 3rd section – 220°C, and the die head at 250-280°C.
  • The cooling water tank in the flexible strapping line cools and sets the extrudate from the main and auxiliary machine dies. As the emerging melt exits the die head at high temperatures, immediate water quenching is necessary because isotactic polypropylene tends to form crystalline structures under rapid cooling, resulting in a loose molecular arrangement that facilitates stretching for high-quality products. The cooling water temperature is maintained at 30-40°C, and the die-to-water surface distance should be 15-45 mm.

  • The primary traction unit in the flexible strapping line consists of variable-speed motors, reducers, chain drives, and traction rollers conveying the quenched extrudate profile to the thermal treatment oven.
  • The secondary heating in the oven of the flexible strapping production line facilitates stretching. The purpose of stretching is to increase the longitudinal strength of the strapping belt and reduce break elongation. The subsequent tertiary heating in the oven of the production line eliminates stretching stress; after relieving thermal stress, shaping occurs in the cooling water tank.
  • The embossing machine in the flexible strapping line is powered by a variable-speed electric motor via an integrated belt-chain-gear transmission system, driving the secondary traction station, embossing assembly, and tertiary traction station.
    • The secondary traction stretches the reheated extrudate profile through tension bars to shape them again and simultaneously delivers them to the embossing rollers;
    • After stretching, the strapping band passes through two embossing rollers to imprint patterns, which increase friction during use and prevent slippage, enhancing the appearance. After embossing, the product is conveyed to the cooling tank or oven;
    • The tertiary traction in the production line conveys the shaped product from the cooling tank to the winder.

Compared to steel or other strapping bands, they have the following advantages:

  • Exceptional tensile strength: Capable of withstanding loads ranging from 0.5 to 8.5 tons, making it a viable replacement for steel strapping.
  • High impact resistance: due to their elasticity and ability to return to shape after deformation, polyester strapping bands can absorb impact energy better than steel bands and do not loosen after goods shrink or expand.
  • High buckle strength: the characteristic of this strapping belt is its connection with steel buckles, the most robust connection method, which can be tightened repeatedly; in some applications, strapping buckles can be reused.
  • Safe to use: lightweight and soft, no gloves needed for operation; when cut, they do not spring open and injure transportation workers and customers; easy to handle after use; no sharp edges to damage forklift tires during storage.
  • Does not damage products: the flexible texture protects the surface of products from scratches.
  • Does not rust or deteriorate: can withstand changes in various climatic conditions, never contaminating your products.
  • Cost-saving: Considering all the hidden costs of steel bands, polyester strapping bands are a cost-effective choice; low cost of strapping tools – only a simple tool is needed, and it has minimal wear and low maintenance costs.
